How is afaLUXE™ Different from Other Peels?

Unlike standard alpha-hydroxy or glycolic peels, afaLUXE™ delivers deep exfoliation while minimizing irritation and redness. Its innovative two-step system works synergistically to achieve visible results with far fewer side effects than traditional peels.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Almost everyone can benefit from this treatment—even clients with mild to moderate rosacea. If there isn’t an active flare-up, we simply adjust the protocol to keep your skin safe and comfortable.

How Should I Prepare for Treatment?

To ensure safe and effective results, please follow these guidelines:

  • Do not shave the treatment area within 12 hours of your appointment.
  • Stop using retinols, exfoliants, and acid-based skincare 72 hours before treatment.
  • Avoid waxing, depilatory creams, electrolysis, or exfoliating procedures for at least 1 week prior.

During Your Treatment

  • You may feel a light, tingly itch as the clay sets.
  • A gentle stinging sensation can occur during the afaLUXE™ solution step, easily soothed with a handheld fan.
  • About 5–7 days later, you’ll return for a follow-up exfoliation, where the loosened skin cells are gently removed.
  • There’s no visible peeling, though slight flaking similar to dry skin may occur. Most exfoliation happens beneath the surface, and the translucent layer is cleared at your follow-up.
  • Immediately post-treatment, your skin may appear normal or slightly flushed, with a subtle sheen from the thin, translucent layer.

Why a Second Appointment is Necessary

Your follow-up exfoliation reveals the fresh, radiant skin beneath by gently removing the thin layer of released cells. The treatment concludes with lightweight, oil-free skincare and SPF 30+ sunscreen to protect your results.

Results & Expectations

Number of Treatments:
Many clients notice improvements after 1–2 treatments. A full series achieves deeper, longer-lasting results. Think of your skin like a loaf of bread: initial sessions work through the “crust,” while subsequent treatments reach deeper layers.

Treatment Schedule:
Treatments are generally spaced every 2–3 weeks, depending on your plan and goals. Each appointment, including the follow-up, lasts about 45 minutes, with the follow-up scheduled 5–7 days later.

Expected Results:

  • Smoother, more even skin tone and refined texture
  • Noticeably fewer fine lines and wrinkles
  • Clearer skin with reduced breakouts
  • Softer appearance of acne scars, sun spots, and pigmentation
  • Restored hydration and balanced moisture levels
  • Calmer skin with reduced redness and rosacea symptoms (with a modified protocol)

Long-Term Results:
With diligent sun protection, results can be long-lasting, especially after a full treatment series. Because skin naturally continues to age, periodic maintenance sessions are recommended. Acne patients often maintain results once affected skin cells have been fully cleared.

After a Series:
Expect a rejuvenated, luminous complexion with smoother texture, less visible discoloration, softened fine lines and wrinkles, and a strengthened moisture barrier.

Post-Treatment Care & Restrictions

Immediate Post-Treatment:

  • Avoid heavy sweating and intense workouts for 24 hours.
  • Stay indoors as much as possible for the first 48 hours (brief outings are fine).
  • Do not touch, wash, moisturize, or apply liquid makeup for 48 hours.

Sun Protection:

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure for the first 48 hours.
  • After that, apply SPF 30+ sunscreen diligently—even on cloudy days.
  • Limit all-day sun exposure for one week post-treatment.

Skincare & Hair Removal:

  • Begin gentle cleansing and daily SPF 30+ sunscreen 48 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams for 7 days.
  • Once your follow-up exfoliation is complete, return to your normal skincare routine, continuing sunscreen for at least 2 weeks from the date of your peel.

Who Should Avoid afaLUXE™?

  • Broken, cut, or sunburned skin in the treatment area
  • Active cold sore (herpes simplex) lesion
  • Recent Accutane use (within 3 months)
  • Recent radiation or chemotherapy
  • Diagnosis of vitiligo
  • Use of retinols, tretinoin (Retin-A), Differin, or acid-based products within 72 hours

Risks

The treatment safely targets only the uppermost skin layers and is suitable for most skin types. Rare side effects may include minor redness or temporary irritation. Patients with a history of cold sores may be at risk of a flare-up; preventive steps are taken to minimize this risk.
